ABOUT THE COMMISSIONING PROJECT
The Avenue C Project, a collaborative platform for wind musicians and composers, was founded in 2019 by Karen Bronson. The purposes of this project is to provide an outlet for composers, performance opportunities for instrumentalists, and expand the repertoire for wind instruments.

MEET OUR PERFORMERS
Liz Fleissner, oboe
Elizabeth Fleissner is a freelance oboist and teacher currently located in Denton, Texas. Her contemporary performance history includes premiering works at the Midwest Composers Symposium, winning the 2018 University of North Texas Innovative Programming Competition, and commissioning works for various chamber and solo appearances. Fleissner has performed with the Waterloo/Cedar Falls Symphony Orchestra, the Lone Star Wind Orchestra, and the Amarillo Symphony in addition to being a founding member of the Christine Burke Ensemble. As a member of the Southeast Iowa Symphony, she participated in a rural outreach tour, bringing classical music to young students across rural Iowa.

Ms. Fleissner holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Georgia and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Iowa. She is currently working towards her Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of North Texas where she is a member of the NOVA ensemble.
Jolene Masone, bassoon
Jolene Masone is a unique artist dedicated to expanding the contemporary and electro-acoustic repertoire for the bassoon. As part of the Ex-Mus trio, Jolene is a deft improviser and new music artist. Jolene has also played with several symphony orchestras and has given masterclasses across the country. Jolene received her Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of North Texas, her Masters from the Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins University, and her Bachelor degree from the University of Northern Colorado.
She can be seen with the Ex-Mus Ensemble, an improvisatory trio in Dallas, Texas. Jolene has appeared with SoundsModern, based in Ft.Worth, Texas, and the Odysseus Chamber Orchestra based in Frisco, Texas. Jolene is also a member of the Lone Star Wind Orchestra, and teaches throughout the DFW area. She can be heard on the GIA label with the North Texas Wind Symphony on both bassoon and contrabassoon, as well as Album No.1 with the Ex-Mus Ensemble under the Sedimental label.
Karen Bronson, clarinet
Dr. Karen Andreas Bronson is adjunct clarinet professor at Texas A&M University-Kingsville and runs a private clarinet studio in the Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas area. She hosts the podcast “The Clarinet Pedagogue.” In 2019, she founded The Avenue C Project, a collaborative platform for wind musicians and composers, and has commissioned pieces for reed trio and bass clarinet. She is the founder/co-educator of Virtual Clarinet Camp, online group learning for middle and high school clarinetists. Dr. Bronson has lectured at National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors Conference, Texas A&M Clarinet Colloquium, and ClarinetFest. She can be heard on the GIA label with the North Texas Wind Symphony on clarinet and bass clarinet. Clarinet performance degrees earned are a Doctor of Musical Arts from University of North Texas with a related field degree in Wind Band Conducting, a Master of Music from University of North Carolina School of the Arts and a Bachelor of Music degree from University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
